My absolute favourite thing to do, after baking, listening to music and procrastinating, is going out to eat. The whole experience of getting ready, stepping out of the house, only to eat, is very exciting for me. I always look forward to going to a nice restaurant or a pretty café and enjoy my time there.
One of the best places to go to for restaurants lovers like me, is New York City. From great pizza places to coffee spots, New York has it all. Now, I did my research and found 10 restaurants that I really wish to go to and I think you should too, the next time you’re in NYC.
Murray’s Cheese had to be a part of my list mainly because of its famous grilled cheese, which they make with three of their own cheeses! Murray’s Cheese takes their cheese very seriously. They have gourmet cheeses, cheeseboards, and literal ‘cheesecakes’ that are basically cheese wheels stacked in a tower. Though I’m not very tempted to try that, I’d definitely go for the grilled cheese!
Well, I have to admit, it’s only their Chicken Parm pizza that convinced me. Quality Italian serves a pizza with a Chicken Parmesan base, and I’m all for it. I mean, why not? This steakhouse/bar is a modern take on the Italian-American steakhouse tradition. I’m coming, New York!!!
3.Nutella Café (Eataly)
They have Nutella ON-TAP! ON-TAP! Yes, I have nothing more to say.
4. Pomme Frites
Pomme Frites is part of my list because it’s known for one thing – their fries. And they’re definitely doing it right. Pomme Frites in NYC makes about 2 tons of fries every week and with dozens of dipping sauces to choose from. I do love fries and there’s nothing cooler than a place where I can get just fries and loads of sauces.
Cheeseboat serves a dish called Khachapuri, which is essentially bread in the shape of a boat that is baked with a lot of cheese inside of it. How could you resist that? I am a huge bread lover and I would undoubtedly finish this whole bread boat by myself.
One of the many great places to eat in New York is Spaghetti Incident. Their spaghetti cones (cones filled with spaghetti!) are all the rage. They’re convenient, fun and honestly quite genius.
What’s more New-York than bagels with cream cheese? And a coffee on the side. Well, Baz Bagel in NYC takes bagels to a whole different level, with fancy flavours like Beet & Horseradish Cream Cheese, Salmon Roe and of course, the loveable Pizza Bagel. Definitely going here!
8.Los Tacos No.1
The best tacos in NYC! Los Tacos No.1, although very popular in the city, still seems like a roadside stand with no seats and only counters, which adds to the entire experience of eating their truly delicious tacos. These super-affordable yet great quality tacos make it a must-eat in New York.
The reason I want to go to Raclette is for the whole French dining experience. Now, before you come at me, I know that I can’t get the authentic French cuisine and experience in New York. But I can certainly enjoy it. At Raclette, they serve your food with a helping of cheese that is scraped off a cheese wheel. It can’t get better than this! They also have other French dishes, like croques and tartines *beating myself up for not going to New York before social distancing*
Now I know this place isn’t exactly an eatery, but it IS a dine-in movie theatre, so I’m going to count this in. You can order full-fledged meals, or just popcorn (truffle popcorn, please) if you want, along with themed drinks specific to your movie. All-in-all, Nitehawk Cinema is a really fun experience that I wouldn’t want to miss if I were in NY.
These are a few restaurants in New York City that I definitely want to visit. Tell me about your favourite places in NYC that you think I should add to the list. Stay tuned for an NYC food series!
